Why are you paying for water?

Most commercial bottled water is usually regular tap water contained in plastic. Water left in plastic leaches phtalates into the water. Ingesting this is unhealthy. Where I live, a 1L plastic bottle of tap water costs $1 or more, and 1L of gasoline costs $1 or less. Why are you paying so much for water? And, why are you even paying for water?
